The annual Robert Martin Elementary Spelling bee took place on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023.  The 2023 winner is Sutton Hey, a third grade student from Mrs. Jilka’s classroom and our runner-up is, Nabhan Chowdhury, a fourth grader who is also from the classroom of Mrs. Boline.   There were eleven contestants in this year’s bee.  Other contestants included:  3^rd Grade – Gage L., Brady D., Owen S., Ellie B., Emmitt K., Lucy A., and Mick A.  4^th Grade –- Donovan, W., Carter W., Brooklynn R., Cooper J., Lucy T., Kobe C., and Dalen O.  5^th Grade – Evan K., Alia L., Sam R., Ben M., Eleanor L., and Saran S.

Mrs. Micah Brown pronounced the words to the students with Mrs. Cindi Bass and Mrs. Annie Wolfe, serving in the role of judges for the bee.  Sutton will be representing Robert Martin Elementary at the Butler County spelling bee on February 3, 2023, at Butler County Community College in El Dorado, Kansas.
